c. 1940s Babe Ruth Signed NBC Spalding Sports Show Program PSA/DNA Authentic
RUTH & SPALDING!!!...
Babe Ruth was well into retirement from his playing days when the A.G. Spalding & Bros. Company in 1944 created "Babe Ruth Presents Spalding Sports Show" on which Ruth would share his love of the game. His animated commentary, personal stories, anecdotes and interviews with other athletes occurred every Saturday morning on the "NBC Network Coast-to-Coast". Presented here is a booklet promoting the Spalding brand and highlighting their "firsts" in the industry of sports manufacturing that included the first base ball, basket ball, foot ball, tennis ball, and golf club, among other innovations. The Babe has signed the front of the approx. 7" x 10-1/2" booklet in black fountain pen that PSA/DNA has encapsulated as Authentic with the signature strength of "8-9". This relatively rare booklet remains in great condition and is one of the finer examples sold over the last few years. Though Babe Ruth's autograph is only reasonably scarce, finding a signature of the Sultan of Swat this nice can be an extremely arduous task. This autograph is stunning. Spalding and Ruth's relationship extended far beyond the diamond and this incredible signed booklet is just one more venture that kept Ruth in the spotlight long after his playing days were over.
