1940 Babe Ruth Signed Photograph Pictured on a Donkey PSA/DNA 10 GEM MINT
By 1940, Babe Ruth was five years removed from baseball, retiring from the Boston Braves in 1935. He was, in effect, enjoying his retirement, though his schedule seemed consistently full with appearances, advertisements and inclusion in the baseball community that he helped build in popularity. The Babe was arguably the greatest face to have endorsed a product in the 1920s and ‘30s, and Ruth continued to milk that fame that afforded him an incredible well-earned life of leisure. That being said, not everything was a home run. For instance, the donkey appearing in this photograph with The Bambino sitting on its back probably didn't expect a 250 lbs. man on its back that morning for a photo op. However, the opposite side's incredible signature is nothing short of a grand slam. This 3-1/2" x 5" photograph has been signed in deep, rich black fountain pen "Sincerely Babe Ruth" and assessed GEM MINT 10 by PSA. Stamped at center, Jul 6, 1940, this is one of the finest Ruth autographs we have ever seen.
