(LOT 1276)
1937 New York Yankees World Championship PSA Type 1 Encapsulated ACME NEWSPICTURES Photo - Measures Approx. 7" x 9"

Presented here is an absolutely breathtaking 1937 New York Yankees world championship Type 1 team photo taken by from the renowned ACME NEWSPICTURES. Beginning in 1936, the New York Yankees would commence on a 4-year championship run, sparked by their incredible rookie center-fielder Joe DiMaggio. With the iconic Babe Ruth long gone, Joltin' Joe would now join forces with the immortal Lou Gehrig to create the nucleus of the new "Bronx Bombers" dynasty. The 1937 Yankees would cruise to their ninth pennant, posting a 102-52 record and besting 2nd place Detroit by a staggering 13 games. They would continue their onslaught by besting their cross-town Giants rivals in 5 games in the Fall Classic, posting their second consecutive championship and six overall World Series title. The photo includes a whopping eight Hall of Famers including Gehrig (second row - 3rd from the right), DiMaggio (second row - 2nd from the left), Lazerri, Dickey, Gomez, Ruffing, manager McCarthy and coach Combs. Exhibiting superb resolution/contrast and measuring 7" x 9", the only notable flaws are several stray vertical marks situated near the upper and lower borders, none of which impede on the breathtaking eye appeal of this classic team image. The flipside provides a significant newspaper caption that reflects the same team picture as well as the names of each Yankee player and their respective position on the photo. A magnificent Yankees keepsake, this captivating marvel serves as a steadfast reminder of how the "Iron Horse" and "Yankee Clipper" led the Bronx Bombers to four consecutive championships in the mid-to-latter 1930s!
