1965 Sandy Koufax Start After Perfect Game Vs. the Cubs - Type 1 PSA Encapsulated Chicago Sun Times News Service Photo
Not only did Sandy Koufax possess one of the fiercest fastballs, but his curve devastated hitters, keeping them off balance and flat out dominating the strike zone. His powerful windup and delivery were repeated over and over and over as captured by photographers across the league. In 1956, the Topps Company captured one of those deliveries and placed it on Koufax's second-year issue, next to a portrait of the Dodgers lefty. The offered 8" x 10" original Type 1 photograph from the Chicago Sun Times dated "Sep 15 1965" nearly displays an identical delivery with seemingly the exact same movement and arm angle. This September 14 start for Koufax was the first after he became the sixth player since 1900 to throw a perfect game. An incredible, clean image as Sandy Koufax delivers his knee-buckling curve.
