(LOT 200)
1954 Roberto Clemente Contract with his Fingerprints PSA LOA

This historically important pre-rookie contract is from Roberto Clemente's time with the Santurce Crabs (Cangrejeros de Santurce) of the Puerto Rican Leagues. This was his last team before he made it to the minor leagues and the Montreal Royals in the Brooklyn Dodgers organization. This was before he was discovered by the Pirates and rerouted to Pittsburgh and immortality. Interestingly, the Pirates were not there for Roberto; their original target was pitcher Joe Black. The rare contract is blessed with the incredibly early signature of Roberto Clemente, as well as his father Melchor's signature, due to Roberto's youth.

Best of all, the contract contains the fingerprints of both the young Roberto Clemente and his father next to their signatures. This takes this to a pantheon level on the memorabilia scale. The piece is nicely framed to 18" x 34" with a matted photo of Roberto in his Santurce uniform. One of the rarest and finest Clemente signatures extant because of the early nature of it. It is a pre-rookie bold signature. Comes with a PSA LOA for the signature. One of the more important Roberto Clemente pieces we have offered and undoubtedly THE finest signed piece we have seen in eons. The fact that this contains Roberto Clemente's fingerprints is truly special. Perhaps in a hundred years or so, we can grow our own Numero Uno baseball player who, with his combination of class, transcended the game with his effect on and off the field.
