Roberto Clemente signed this check on October 26th, 1972. It was confirmed years ago that the Clemente family found an envelope of checks. Not a box but an envelope containing approximately 50 checks. The majority were dated at the end of his life because they never saved checks. It was pure coincidence that these appeared some years later since they must not have thrown out checks from the second half of 1972. Some were from Puerto Rico and some from Pittsburgh, PA. This check, written out to "CASH" for $875 and in the memo, we see "For Deposit-Banco Popular" which was the bank in Puerto Rico. Hence checks from both Puerto Rico and Pittsburgh, PA. PSA grants this check a PSA 9 MINT Auto grade! What's even more incredible is that it's endorsed on the reverse by Vera C. Clemente, Roberto's wife. A very special piece of baseball memorabilia from this man's legacy.
