Ty Cobb Signed June 12, 1939 Baseball Centennial First Day Cover PSA/DNA 8 NM-MT

COBB SIGNED HOF ENVELOPE!!! This highly coveted June 12, 1939 Baseball Centennial First Day Cover has been boldly signed "Ty Cobb" in black fountain pen and awarded a PSA 8 NM-MT assessment. One of the most notable days in our National Pastime's revered history is when Cooperstown first opened its doors to the public on June 12, 1939 to commemorate not only baseball's 100-year centennial but to honor the 26 Hall of Fame inductees, including the five original 1936 members. A number of first-day mailing envelopes for the inductees were issued for that momentous day, including "June 12, 1939 Cooperstown" as well as FIRST DAY OF ISSUE postal stamps, and in this case, a scarce black and white image of the HOF inductee situated within the upper left quadrant. This particular Georgia Peach envelope also includes the names of the five original HOF Charter Members along the lower left quadrant beneath Cobb's classic image and reveals outstanding eye appeal. A magnificent Cobb heirloom, it effectively turns back the clock to the day when the HOF celebrated baseball's 100th anniversary with its highly publicized grand opening!
