(LOT 309)
1957 Mantle, Skowron, Minoso, & Fox PSA Type 1 Encapsulated Original Tony Bernato/N.Y. Daily Mirror Photo - Measures Approx. 8" x 10"

THE MICK & OTHERS!!!... This 1957 NY Daily Mirror photo has been deemed a Type 1 illustration by PSA. Measuring approximately 8" x 10", it includes four American League stars including Mickey Mantle, Moose Skowron, Minnie Minoso and Nellie Fox. Measuring approximately 8" x 10", it was taken on July 24, 1957 at Yankee Stadium before the Yankees matchup versus the Chicago White Sox. On this particular day, the Yankees would falter to their Windy City opponents by a 7-2 score, with White Sox hurler Billy Pierce limiting the Yanks to only two runs in a complete game win.

The Yankees, however, would ultimately win the American League Pennant, led by the Commerce Comet's second consecutive MVP season. Mantle posted his highest batting average (.365) and OPS (1.177), in what many historians arguably consider, from a sabermetric perspective, to be Mantle's finest statistical campaign. The breathtaking image reveals The Mick showing his colossal lumber to Skowron, Minoso and Fox, with the finest possible crystal clear clarity stealing the show. The verso includes a "Tony Bernato" caption that provides details of the classic image, with this extremely scarce Type 1 offering reflecting remarkable quality for a 66-year-old illustration!
