c.1950 Stan Musial PSA Type 1 Encapsulated William Jacobellis Photo – Measures Approx. 8" x 10"

STAN THE MAN!!!... In 1941, the St. Louis Cardinals called up their 20-year-old star phenom Stan Musial who, in only 49 plate appearances, provided the baseball community a glimpse of things to come by posting an unfathomable .426 average. Indeed, Stan the Man was here to stay, and in the following 1942 campaign (his official full rookie season), he would bat a very formidable .315 as he was about to embark on one of the most spectacular careers in baseball history. Musial's list of unfathomable superlatives includes a .331 lifetime average, 3,630 hits, 475 home runs, nearly 2,000 RBIs, seven batting titles, three MVPs and a staggering 24 All Star game appearances. Based on these esteemed statistical highlights, it is mind boggling as to why his name doesn't stand next to Ruth, Cobb, Williams, Aaron, Mays, Mantle, etc. Fortunately, his playing excellence hasn't eluded hobbyists who actively seek his prized collectibles such as this extraordinary c.1950 PSA Type 1 William Jacobellis illustration.

Measuring approximately 8" x 10", the extremely well-centered image portrays an awe-inspiring Musial posing with his period-style lumber in one of the most crystal-clear images we have ever encountered. Indeed, the perfect contrast and clarity are impeccable, with Stan the Man's classic batting pose literally jumping off the photo. A super clean surface has miraculously eluded any notable flaws, with the verso portraying the critical WILLIAM N. JACOBELLIS credit stamp. As photo enthusiasts surely realize, Jacobellis resides as one of the most prominent post-WWII baseball photographers, with any of his illustrations highly coveted in the collecting community. This museum worthy masterpiece arguably stands as the finest preserved 1950s image for any player, let alone the iconic Stan Musial whose incredible batting feats will forever stand the test of time!
