(LOT 1291)
1947 Original Bob Olen 8" x 10" New York Yankees World Champs Type 1 News Service Photo - PSA Encapsulated

For the first time, New York Yankee fans didn't require a ticket to Yankees Stadium in order to watch their beloved team play ball. The 1947 season was the first to be broadcast on television, on WABD, allowing rabid followers to see every play from the comforts of their own couches. And so, the armchair quarterback was born. New York fanatics were treated to a familiar result as the Yankees paced the American League with a 97-57-1 record, winning the pennant by 12 games over the Detroit Tigers. They then topped the crosstown Brooklyn Dodgers in a hard-fought seven games series. Offered is an original 8" x 10" Type 1 photograph from legendary Yankees photographer Bob Olen. This PSA encased photo of the World Series champions still displays in excellent condition with only slight touches at the corners with expected aging from 75 years of handling and storage. No other defects are evident on the face. The back is equally flaw-free with the "Bob Olen Photo Service" and "Credit Line Must Read Bob Olen" stamps at center. "1947 Team Picture" is also written in black at the bottom of the reverse.
