(LOT 1292)
1949 Original 6-1/2" x 8-1/2" Stan Musial & Jackie Robinson All-Star Game Type 1 ACME Newspictures News Service Photograph - PSA Encapsulated

1949 was a banner year for Stan Musial as the reigning National League MVP. He led the NL in hits (207), doubles (41) and triples (13), and blasted 36 home runs, second only to Ralph Kiner's 54. Playing in his sixth All-Star Game in 1949, with Brooklyn's Jackie Robinson perched at second base, Musial crushed a 2-run home run to deep right for his second All-Star Game home run. Stan "The Man" holds the record for most All-Star Game home runs with six in 24 games over his 22-year career. Offered here is an original ACME Newspictures news service photograph of Musial crossing the plate as Robinson reaches to shake his hand and Boston catcher Birdie Tebbetts looks on. This 6-1/2" x 8-1/2" Type 1 photo remains extremely clean with virtually no wear visible on the face. The left border is slightly "rough-cut", but nothing detracts from the image of "The Man" and Jackie. On the back is a paper captioned "All-Star Home Run" and dated "7/12/49" with an ACME Newspictures stamp at the bottom. Light pencil notations are present with a Christies and PSA sticker attached at top and bottom left, respectively.
