(LOT 1266)
c.1930s Thorne Photos 7" x 9" Waite Hoyt Type 1 Original Photograph - PSA Encapsulated

From 1921 to 1934, Waite Hoyt averaged 15 wins a season with a pair of 19-win campaigns and two 20-game winners highlighted by his league leading 22-7 mark in 1927 for New York's Murderers' Row. Teaming with Carl Mays, Bullet Joe Bush, Sad Sam Jones and Herb Pennock, to name a few, Hoyt and his colleagues made for one of the most successful and dominating rotations in the 1920s and '30s. Hoyt won three World Series titles and earned Hall of Fame enshrinement after posting a 237-182 record with 26 shutouts and 1,206 strikeouts. Offered is a 1930s 7" x 9" Type 1 photograph of the great Yankees right-hander. This attractive Thorne Photo borderless image shows the righty at delivery and appears virtually flawless, save for only the slightest unobtrusive aging marks at the edges. The back displays adhesive toning around the perimeter with a "THORNE PHOTOS" designation near the top at center.
