(LOT 2063)
1961 Fleer #28 Jimmie Foxx - PSA/DNA 8 NM-MT Autograph

Few players were feared more than Ruth and Gehrig in their day, until youngster Jimmie Foxx came along in 1926. Only a teenager when he signed with the Philadelphia Athletics, Jimmie Foxx's first foray into professional baseball was catching for Hall of Famer Frank "Home Run" Baker in the Eastern Shore League. But, much like Gehrig, minus attending college, Foxx made his mark on the Major Leagues earning an everyday spot on the A's by the time he was 20 and he won his first of three American League MVP awards at 24. However, Gehrig only won two. Foxx's assault on AL pitchers earned him the nickname "Beast", and fewer labels seemed more fitting. Jimmie Foxx led the league in home runs four times, RBIs three times, on-base percentage three times, slugging percentage five times and batting average twice. Setting aside Barry Bonds astonishing seven MVP awards, only ten players in MLB history have won three MVP awards. Offered here is a 1961 Fleer #28 Jimmie Foxx that has been encapsulated by PSA/DNA with an authenticated ballpoint autograph graded "8". The card remains in supreme condition appearing EX-MT to NM with clean and sharp borders. Minimal unobtrusive surface abrasions are present, but nothing could diminish this bold signature that looks as if it was penned only yesterday. This would be an awesome addition to any Hall of Fame autograph collection, not to mention a collection honoring one of the greatest sluggers in the history of Major League Baseball.
