1961 Fleer #43 Rogers Hornsby - PSA/DNA 8 NM-MT Autograph
To this day, Rogers Hornsby is widely considered as one of the best second basemen in MLB history and most certainly the greatest hitting second basemen ever. He won two National League MVP Awards, completed the Triple Crown twice and led the St. Louis Cardinals to an unlikely World Series title over the Ruth & Gehrig-led New York Yankees in 1926. He is the only player in history to hit 40 home runs and bat over .400 in a single season and is the last NL player to top the .400 batting mark with a .424 BA in 1924. Rightfully so, Fleer honored the Rajah in their 1961 Fleer Baseball Greats issue with card #43. Offered here is one of those 1961 Fleer #43 Rogers Hornsby cards autographed in blue ballpoint by Hornsby across his chest and encased and certified authentic by PSA/DNA. PSA has deemed the signature as an "8" strength, though this could lean slightly higher. This vibrant example of a smiling Rajah reveals minimal expected surface abrasions and very clean borders. The reverse remains bright with excellent registration. Don't let this autographed Rajah slip by. A Hall of Fame autograph from one of the greatest ever!
