1958 Willie Mays Autographed "LEAPING WILLIE" United Press Original Type 1 Photo PSA/DNA Encapsulated
Few people will argue that Willie Mays was the greatest 5-tool player to ever play in the Major Leagues. The offered 8" x 10" United Press Type 1 photo shows the legendary Hall of Fame centerfielder displaying one of his many exceptional talents. Dated 8/24/58, this PSA encapsulated photo shows the great Giants centerfielder robbing a sure double with a leaping catch against the outfield fence off the bat of Milwaukee's Les Covington to end the inning for the threatening Braves. The bright yellow paper caption on the reverse entitled "LEAPING WILLIE" from the San Francisco Bureau offers a general synopsis of the image and Milwaukee's eventual victory score of 8-5. This PSA Authentic autographed photo shows snow-white borders, light wear at the upper right and lower left corners, minimal insignificant surface abrasions on the obverse and soft toning from age on the reverse. At bottom center of the photo is an extremely bold blue Sharpie signature (8-9) of the Say Hey Kid.
