Andrew Johnson 17th POTUS Signed Book Page PSA/DNA Authentic
Following Lincoln's assassination, the presidency fell to Andrew Johnson, a traditional Southern Jacksonian Democrat with strong states' rights beliefs. Although an honest and honorable man, Johnson faced significant challenges as he contended with the Radical Republicans in Congress, who were led by formidable and ruthless leaders. Johnson, a champion of the common man who criticized the plantation elite, struggled to navigate the political landscape. During his time as a member of the House of Representatives and the Senate in the 1840s and '50s, he advocated for a homestead bill aimed at providing free land to the poor. This album page, encapsulated and authenticated by PSA, features the signature of Andrew Johnson, the 17th President of the United States. It is also signed by Orville Browning, the 9th Secretary of the Interior under Johnson, and Alexander Williams Randall, who served as postmaster general in Johnson's cabinet. This page is a significant piece of presidential history.
