(LOT 20)
1915 Cracker Jack #37 Grover Alexander PSA 8 NM-MT – Only 2 PSA Examples Graded Higher!

OLD PETE CANDY TREAT!!! One of the immortal Grover Alexander's most sought-after cards is his 1915 Cracker Jack #37 subject, presented here in an outstanding PSA 8 holder and bested by a meager two examples! It's no secret as to the severe condition sensitivity of the Cracker Jack thin-stock cards since they were inserted in Rueckheim Bros. & Eckstein's Cracker Jack boxes and subjected to serious caramel corn stains.

While Walter Johnson was mowing down hitters in the AL, Old Pete was matching him with the NL's Philadelphia Phillies. Alexander won 30 or more games three consecutive seasons (1915-1917) while winning three consecutive NL Pitching Triple Crowns in that span. He ended his spectacular career with 90 shutouts, and his 373 wins tie him for the most all-time NL victories with the legendary Christy Mathewson. His awe-inspiring pitching pose depicts sensational contrast and clarity, set against a fire engine red background. Fine centering only reveals a modest tilt towards the upper right corner, and both surfaces have miraculously eluded any candy corn staining. Pinpoint corners are the final superlative for this timeless Alexander candy treat that has defied 108 years of potential wear!
