1948 Bowman Basketball Starter Set - All PSA-Graded
PSA-GRADED '48 BOWMAN COLLECTION!!! The 1948 Bowman Basketball set is considered the first true basketball release, as previous hoopsters inclusion in sets were multisport issues. This 72-card Bowman set appears similar in nature to the company's baseball and football issues from that year, with deep, rich red and blue backgrounds and a large in-action image of the player. Carrying many future Hall of Famers and rookies, this set is driven by the coveted #69 George Mikan rookie (not included) as well as the presented HOFers #9 Andy Phillips (PSA 3), #32 Red Holzman (Altered), #34 Joe Fulks (Altered), #38 Buddy Jeannette (Altered) and #58 Arnie Risen (Altered). Offered here is a 50-card PSA-graded assembly of 44 different players and four play cards as well as six duplicates in various grades. Many of these cards are presented as Altered according to PSA as they have been sheet-cut, thereby earning the Altered assessment. Ranging in condition from Altered to low-to-midgrade, this set offers an opportunity to build and trade up to collect a high-end inaugural basketball collection.
