(LOT 311)
1958 Topps #150 Mickey Mantle PSA 8 NM-MT

MARVELOUS MICKEY!!! It's no secret that Mickey Mantle holds the title as having the most expensive baseball card ever sold at auction. And it isn't even close. Though Honus Wagner's T206 remains one of the rarer cards and Babe Ruth still resides as the most sought-after figure in the hobby, Mickey Mantle is by far the most desirable figure in the post-war era. Autographs, memorabilia and game used material aside, the Mick's trading cards have been on collectors' lists since each year's release starting more than 70 years later. So, locating a Mickey Mantle card, no matter the year, in high-grade condition is a true find. The offered 1958 Topps #150 Mickey Mantle graded 8 NM-MT by PSA is one such discovery. Having escaped the spokes of some young baseball fans bike or the flips against the stoop or alley walls, this Mantle from '58 still carries a pack-fresh look with a flawless autumn orange background. This exceptionally well-centered card displays razor-sharp corners and edges with an absolutely immaculate face. This is such a beautiful example that we can only assume that the back's off-centering, favoring the right edge, warrants PSA not grading this higher. They don't get much nicer than this high-grade Mantle from 1958.
