(LOT 1755)
Kirk Gibson Game-Issued Autographed "WORTH" Bat PSA/DNA COA

Kirk Gibson spent the glut of his career with the Detroit Tigers (1979-1987), but his biggest moment came during the playoffs of his 1988 MVP season with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Having been injured during the NLCS, Gibson heroically came off the bench, or out of the locker room as the case was, to pinch hit against Oakland's Dennis Eckersley. With one man on and the Dodgers down 4-3 in the bottom of the ninth, LA manager Tommy Lasorda went to Gibson with two outs facing the best closer in the league. The hobbled Gibson crushed a game-winning two-run shot to deep right field giving Los Angeles Game 1.

Offered is a Kirk Gibson Model game-issued bat WORTH measuring 34 inches and weighing 33 ounces. This black bat with ash colored handle is the standard issue that Gibson used throughout his career and has been signed on the barrel in yellow against the black barrel color. Though the barrel does not carry the standard "THUMPER" stamping, the "Hand Crafted – Kirk Gibson - MODEL" appears next to the signature, also in bold yellow print. This game-issued keepsake from the 1988 National League MVP comes with a COA from PSA/DNA authenticating the signature (AL56094).
