(LOT 170)
1939 Hall of Fame Cooperstown Cavalcade of Baseball - 1st Induction Ceremony/Museum Open Ticket Stub PSA Authentic

In 1939, Major League Baseball celebrated the centennial anniversary of the National Pastime with the opening of the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. Known as the Cavalcade of Baseball, the event included the introduction of the inaugural 1936 Hall of Fame class that included the late Christy Mathewson, Ty Cobb, Walter Johnson, Babe Ruth, Tris Speaker and Honus Wagner as well as the first exhibition game featuring current and former MLB players at Cooperstown's Doubleday Field. Presented is a strikingly well-persevered ticket stub from that inaugural contest encased Authentic by PSA. Dated June 12, 1939, this creamy stub displays hunter green print entitled "CAVALCADE OF BASEBALL" comes from a member of the press as indicated on the stub "PRESS SECTION". The back of the ticket still holds a clear "1839-1939 baseball Centennial" logo with light toning apparent. The bottom edge at the perforation presents some paper loss from the ticket tear, but it is otherwise clean on the reverse. The first game played at Doubleday Field featured ballplayers from across the Major Leagues, managed by Hall of Famers Wagner and Eddie Collins, and even included a pinch-hit at-bat from Babe Ruth. A wonderful relic from the National Pastime marking 100 years or prosperity!
