RUTH HAMMERS ONE!!! From 1920 to 1922, Babe Ruth batted .359 with 148 home runs. To put this in perspective, Tony Gwynn, one of the greatest hitters in history, hit .338 for his 20-year career and clouts a mere 135 dingers. But Ruth's 148 round-trippers over this three-year span would be career numbers for any MLB ballplayer. Offered here is a fantastic circa-1920-22 Type 1 photograph of the Bambino clouting another homer as he looks to the heavens watching it clear the fences once more. Not sure what the bat speed was or the speed of the ball as it left the bat, but those stats were meaningless then. This amazing shot of Ruth taking an uncharacteristically long stride is in wonderful condition with a gleaming white border and only minimal surface abrasions. The left edge shows a crease within the white border and the upper right corner also displays a crease that infringes on the image though the central image is unencumbered by any flaws. The back is still fairly clean, save for a penciled "Babe Ruth" and "To be return - 505-5th Ave NY" in blue fountain.
