(LOT 1248)
c.1920s Hack Wilson PSA Type 1 Encapsulated Underwood & Underwood Photo - Measures Approx. 7" x 9"

Hall of Famer Hack Wilson slugged his way to baseball immortality when in 1930 playing for the Chicago Cubs, he hit 56 home runs and accumulated a staggering 190 R.B.I.s, the latter still standing as a Major League record. Seven years before he would set that imposing mark, the 23-year-old 1st baseman was making his MLB debut with John McGraw's N.Y. Giants in 1923, stroking two hits in only ten plate appearances. Wilson's official rookie season would be 1924, when he would realize 434 plate appearances, walloping 10 round-trippers and posting a stellar .295 batting average. The barrel-chested slugger was now here to stay, traded to the Cubs before the 1926 campaign where he ultimately set the aforementioned 190 R.B.I. single-season record.

As a perfect testament for his amazing Hall of Fame career, presented here is an ultra-rare c.1920s illustration portraying Wilson in his classic Chicago Cubs uniform. Measuring approximately 7" x 9", this obscure offering reveals superb contrast and resolution as Wilson completes his mighty swing. While a "File Copy" has been written in the lower right quadrant on the obverse side, it fortunately does not impede the awe-inspiring central image, with the only other noteworthy blemish being a modest crease situated near the upper right corner. The final superlative is the significant "Underwood & Underwood" credit stamp affixed on the flipside, with this seldom-surfacing c.1920s Hack Wilson scarcity worthy of a final resting place in any "cream of the crop" photo collection!
