1903 W601 Sporting Life Team Composite 10-1/2" x 13-1/2" Philadelphia NL
In 1903, the Philadelphia Phillies finished 7th in the National League, 39.5 games behind the NL Pennant winning Pittsburgh Pirates with a 49-86 record. That year, Sporting Life produced team composite displays of many of the Major League teams, including the Phillies, featuring the manager at center surrounded by player portraits. These composites were issued both individually as well as part of a bound publication. Offered is one such composite of the NL's Philadelphia squad that includes: Bill Duggleby, Tully Sparks, Chick Fraser, Fred Mitchell, Klondike Douglas, Red Dooin, Frank Roth, Kid Gleason, Rudy Hulswitt, Harry Wolverton, Shad Barry, Roy Thomas, Bill Keister, Bill Hallman and manager Charles Zimmer. Presenting in excellent condition overall, this 10-1/2" x 13-1/2"page appears to have been removed from one of the original volumes, showing signs of removal. While most spiral binding holes remain intact, the upper left shows minimal tearing though no damage obscures the more than 115-year-old composite. Minimal toning and aging are also visible.
