(LOT 2107)
Striking and Rare 1894 "BBBC" Buffalo Bisons Baseball Club Pendant

The 1894 Buffalo Bisons boasted a team that included future Hall of Famers Pud Galvin at the end of his career and Jimmy Collins in only his second season of professional baseball. Though Eastern League statistics as sparse at best, Collins hit an outstanding nine home runs in his second season, but was outmatched by teammate and league leader Jake Drauby, who clobbered an unheard of for the day 21 round-trippers. The Buffalo Bison Baseball Club was established in 1877 and jumped from the Eastern League to the International League, the latter of which they are still members. Offered is a pristine eye-catching brass pendant from the 1894 season. The 1" x ¾" brass pendant features a bright bluish-purple "BBBC" painted at the center of a quartet of crossed bats with "94" in bluish-purple at center on the baseball. On the reverse is etched "EASTERN LEAGUE – Championship". This remarkable pendant has certainly seen its share of lapels with expected aging and scratches on the back, but nothing can take away from the beauty of this amazing piece of Bisons history! The pendant comes in a black topped, gold bottom gift box marked "BG'S GOLD SHOP" on the underside of the top. This is a spectacularly beautiful accoutrement for a bygone era in Buffalo baseball!
