1909-11 T206 Sweet Caporal Signed Rube Marquard Follow-Thru - SGC Authentic
Rube Marquard pitched for two of the greatest managers in MLB history in John McGraw and Wilbert Robinson. He posted a league leading .774 winning percentage in 1911 after going 24-7, led the league in wins in 1912 and strikeouts in 1911 as well. And he did all of this pitching behind already Hall of Fame-worthy Giants ace Christy Mathewson. He pitched in five World Series going 2-5 and, unfortunately, was coming up short in all five instances. Offered here is a 1911 Sweet Caporal T206 Rube Marquard Follow-Through card autographed by the hurler and encapsulated by SGC as Authentic. This treasured card presents in Poor condition with rounded corners, and light soiling throughout, but the signature is boldly penned in black across the center. And that is what is truly desired here. His signature remains as strong as if signed only days ago. Minor staining is evident on the reverse upper left portion. Though this might not make the list for high-end T206 enthusiasts due to condition, this is an excellent signature of one of the great pitchers from more than a century ago.
