(LOT 2056)
1928 Players Contract of Jigger Statz signed by Statz & Wilbert Robinson PSA/DNA LOA

Following 1927 when Arnold "Jigger" Statz batted .274 and played the outfield alongside Hall of Famer Max Carey, he resigned with the Wilbert Robinson-led Brooklyn Robins on a one-year deal. Statz served as the everyday centerfielder for the Robins in 1927 appearing in 119 games at center posting an exceptional .989 fielding percentage and adding four outfield assists ably warranting a new contract for the 1928 season. Offered here is just that contract signed on March 7th, 1928 by beloved Robins manager Wilbert Robinson and Arnold Statz, Jigger's given name. The signatures have been penned in black fountain and remain solid 9 strengths. This superb contract for Jigger Statz in his final season as a big league player comes directly from the Statz family and is still is extraordinary condition. This trifold contract does show reasonable signs of aging and wear with light soiling on the front center portion with the interior appearing virtually untouched. The signatures of this beautiful contract are amazingly strong and clear. What a contract!
