CLEMENTE CHECK!!! It's not too often that a payroll, expense or "make it out to cash" check becomes available for auction, especially from a Hall of Famer. However, offered here is a 1971 check from the Pittsburgh Pirates organization for $100.00 to Roberto Clemente, endorsed on the reverse by Arriba. Stamped from the "Pittsburgh Athletic Company – Spring Training Account" from the Manatee National Bank of Bradenton, FL, Pirates coach/executive John Fitzpatrick signed this Spring Training check for "pocket money" for the great right fielder while preparing for the 1971 season. This bright yellow check has been graded 9 MINT by PSA and Clemente's endorsement on the reverse presents in 9-10 strength. This is a great relic from a championship season as Roberto Clemente led the Buccos to the franchise's fourth World Series title that season!
