(LOT 749)
1954 Bowman #197 Lou Kretlow PSA 10 GEM MINT – "POP 2"; Highest Graded Example!

PSA has currently encapsulated over 270 Lou Kretlow 1954 Bowman #197 subjects, with a microscopic two examples (0.7%) achieving the near-impossible PSA 10 GEM MINT assessment. One of those two pinnacle examples is now presented here as part of this remarkable #1 PSA Registered 1954 Bowman set-break, with this extreme rarity destined to join a new world-class Bowman gathering. Right-handed hurler Lou Kretlow pitched 10 years in the big-leagues, playing on four different teams including the Baltimore Orioles. After the 1953 campaign, the St. Louis Browns traded Kretlow to Baltimore just in time for the Bowman Gum Company to issue his #197 subject portraying him in an Orioles uniform. This grand offering depicts the bygone twirler in his Baltimore Orioles home jersey, with Kretlow's stoic portrait pose revealing sparkling hues and vivid resolution. Additional highlights include imposing centering with virtually dead-on 50/50 positioning, a gleaming obverse side surface, pinpoint corners and razor-sharp corners, all of which complete this timeless 68-year-old masterpiece that has miraculously survived in a PSA 10 holder!

DISCLOSURE: The individual 1954 Bowman Baseball Set Break card individual lots 550-774 aggregate lot total or lot 549 Complete Set will determine the final winner(s) for one of the finest arrays of high-grade imaginable!
