c.1920s Babe Ruth Reach "Home Run Special" Leather Fielder's Glove
Babe Ruth's domination of our National Pastime after signing with the New York Yankees in 1920 is virtually unprecedented. His mammoth home runs led this swashbuckling hero to out-homer nearly every MLB team in the early '20s, walloping 54 and 59 dingers in 1920 and 1921, respectively. The "Sultan of Swat" would achieve his greatest feat in 1927 when he crushed 60 round-trippers towards ballparks' furthest confines, establishing a record mark that would stand for the next 34 years. Simply stated, the Babe revolutionized baseball with his colossal blasts, justifying why collectors actively pursue his 1920s Yankee artifacts. This c.1920s Babe Ruth REACH "Home Run Special" fielder's glove is one of those vintage Ruth treasures highly coveted by the collecting community. 

Atypically for this nearly century-old offering is the strong stampings on the front that can literally be seen across the room, including the critical "REACH" logo, "Babe" Ruth's early facsimile signature, and "Home Run Special" designation. Both the Reach patch and shiny bronze Reach button remain in near-mint to mint condition. The only flaw, which hardly detracts from the overall appearance, is a vintage repair to the interior lining. This very rare model was advertised in 1927 sporting magazines, but the full web model dates back to Ruth's earliest days as a Red Sox in 1915. In addition, it's perforated, either for stylistic reasons or to give the glove an aerodynamic flow.
