The 1927 Yankees Campaign for Al Smith for President – Spectacular/Graphic Poster

This 1928 Presidential campaign poster pictures a plethora of sports heroes supporting the New York governor in his presidential bid. A 10" batting image of Babe Ruth dominates the left. A Knute Rockne portrait flanks Smith to the right and Heavyweight Champion of the World Gene Tunney is front and lower center decked out in his U.S. Marine hat. Key to the sports collectors' passions is the panoramic photo of the 1927 New York Yankees, each holding a letter "for Al Smith" with future Hall of Famers Ruth, Gehrig, Lazzeri, Combs and Hoyt. It's a brilliant dominant poster of the utmost rarity in two hobbies, sports and politics. Other than the aforementioned sports icons, another 22 of the greatest athletes on the planet are pictured including James Corbett, Gene Sarazen, Benny Leonard and John McGraw.

The poster is titled "Champions of the World", "Champions of Al Smith" and hails from the famed Bill Mastro collection, who was known for collecting only the most pristine political artifacts on Earth. Measuring 22" x 28" to the edges, the patriotic red, white and blue print is as bold and bright as the day it was made. This example may well be the finest known copy with absolutely no defects. Framed decades ago under UV protective glass and its original Mastro frame. Light folds a distributed and MINT condition. A visual masterpiece!
