(LOT 1700)
Extremely Rare 1953 Topps Double-Sided Cardboard Advertising Window Display

SUPER RARE VERSION!!! By 1953, Bob Feller was at the tail end of his career and was coming off his first of only two losing campaigns of his 18-year tenure in the Bigs. Topps felt otherwise as they used the 6-time AL win leader as their advertising subject for the colorful 1953 Topps release. Measuring approximately 11" x 7", this double-sided cardboard broadside still presents with striking color on both front and back with Feller's 1953 issue front and center as Rapid Bob grins from ear-to-ear. Topps produced much thinner paper versions of these advertisements which are more commonly found, but these rigid cardboard store displays are far scarcer. Reproductions have also diluted the market for the paper stock versions, but the cardboard examples prove to still be the finds. The offered piece displays beautifully and colorfully with sharp edges and lightly touched corners. Minimal centering issues are visible from left to right and a small crease is apparent at right. Slight foxing is visible with soft toning, but despite these expected aging and handling flaws, this rare promotional piece remains in remarkable condition! Whether you are a Feller enthusiast, an Indians fan or advertising collector, this spectacular item would elevate any collection to which it is inserted!
