Mickey Mantle Signed J.D. McCarthy B&W Postcard Postmarked January, 1953 RARE! PSA/DNA MINT 9
Extremely rare to say the least, this J.D. McCarthy postcard is dated January 1953 and the postmark says, BAXTER SPRINGS, KANSAS. Mantle, who was born in Spavinaw but moved to Commerce at age four, had to travel 12 miles to Baxter Springs, Kansas, to get noticed by New York Yankees scout Tom Greenwade. Mantle launched two home runs into the Baxter Springs River with Greenwade in attendance at a field that's now nonexistent. Mantle signs his VINTAGE PLAYING DAY signature on this postcard in a blue ball point pen and PSA/DNA Grades this GEM a PSA/DNA MINT 9!
