(LOT 1426)
1922 W501 Strip Card Complete Set of 122 with 6 PSA Graded including Cobb, Hornsby, Speaker, Johnson, Collins & Ruth "NEW TO THE HOBBY"

RARE COMPLETE SET!!! This "Strip Card" Set is known in the hobby at W501 and is closely connected to the more popular E121 American Caramel set of 1921 & 1922. Because they were handcut from strips, measurements are relative. The W501 cards are numbered in the upper-right corner and have the notation "G-4-22" in the upper-left corner, apparently indicating the cards were issued in April of 1922. This new to the hobby Complete Set of 122 cards is highlighted by 6 key cards being graded by PSA as follows: #8 Ty Cobb PSA 4.5 VG-EX+ POP 1 with 1 grading higher. #17 Walter Johnson PSA 5 EX POP 2 with 1 grading higher. #19 Tris Speaker PSA 4 POP 1 with 1 grading higher. #38 Eddie Collins PSA 6 EX-MT POP 2 with nothing grading higher. #49 "Babe" Ruth PSA 1.5 FR POP 1 with 2 grading higher & #114 Rogers Hornsby PSA 5 POP 1 with 1 grading higher. As you can see, these cards are extremely RARE based on PSA's Population Report. In fact, PSA has only graded 146 of these cards. The balance of this ultra RARE set is Raw and in overall VG+EX+ condition. Some of the remaining key players are as follows: Alexander, 2 different Frisch, Faber, Heilman, Hooper, Hoyt, Huggins, Maranville, 2 different McGraw, Rice, Rixey, Roush, Ruel, Sisler & Wheat.
