(LOT 152)
Babe Ruth "Pose" 1926 – 1929 Postcard – Blue Tint" (PSA EX 5)

As with virtually all of the 1920's and 30's exhibit/postcard sets, the most valuable subject is Babe Ruth with this marvelous 1926/'29 "blue-tint" batting pose PSA 5 example bested by only 3 other specimens! For all his batting achievements, none could ever be more distinguished and recognized than Babe Ruth's 714 home runs. That iconic figure is set in stone as one of baseball's most magical marks, and this outstanding blue tinted representation of the "Sultan of Swat", depicting him "bat in hand against his left shoulder", portrays the Babe ready to step to the plate to wallop another one of his colossal-like round trippers. Babe Ruth was larger than the game itself, justifying why passionate enthusiasts seek his seldom surfacing pre-1930's cardboard treasures. His imposing central image emanates an array of aesthetically pleasing qualities including near perfect contrast and sharp focus. You can virtually feel the "Babe" gripping the bat as he prepares to wreak havoc on another overmatched hurler.

This spectacular mid-grade example reflects an abundance of near-mint attributes, only downgraded to its current technical assessment due to a "soft" lower right corner. The remaining corners reveal minimal wear and an eye pleasing uniformity and no glaring surface flaws are evident on either side. The final superlative is a super clean postcard verso, with collectors truly realizing that mid-grade exhibits/postcards from the 1920's are extremely tough to locate, with their "EX/5" technical assessments nearly equivalent to near-mint+ 1930's Goudey examples (the population reports will easily substantiate that notion). That said, this grand offering's scarce grade and brilliant Ruthian batting pose truly justify why you should be relentless in placing the final bid on this highly coveted keepsake!
