(LOT 78)
1955 Bowman #179 Hank Aaron PSA 8.5 NM-MT+

WOOD BORDERED HANK!!! Aaron's elusive high-grade 1954 Topps inaugural issue remains high on that hallowed list, and we cannot even begin to speculate on the potential value of this premier Bowman 2nd-year offering. Aaron's place in our National Pastime's glorious history needs no introduction with his 755 round-trippers still standing in the eyes of "purists" as the game's all-time mark (due to Barry Bonds affiliation with performance enhancing drugs). That said and considering the seemingly uncontrollable hobby craze for high-grade 1950's/1960's cards, advanced collectors are now scrambling to capture the finest preserved cardboard treasures of baseball's bygone heroes.

We cannot imagine a more formidable card than this amazing Bowman prize with wood grain borders that have miraculously defied "father time" by retaining their original colored surface. It is no secret that the 1955 Bowman and 1962 Topps issues are among the hardest to find high grade specimens due to their wood grain borders reflecting obvious surface blemishes. Yet, this resounding memento reflects Aaron's boyish "hands on knees" well centered image residing between four of the finest 1955 Bowman borders you will ever encounter. A gleaming obverse side surface, four razor sharp corner tips, and an immaculate verso complete this timeless marvel. One of just 2 ever graded by PSA with a mere 4 grading higher. Great addition to any high end collection!!!
