(LOT 79)
"Unique for the Grade" 1957 Topps #30 Pee Wee Reese (PSA Gem Mint 10) – The Only PSA 10 in Existence!

The ultra-popular 1957 Topps set stands as a one of the favorite vintage sets among elite hobbyists, with its illustrious subjects unfortunately resulting in a vast number of condition sensitivity issues. One of the major stigmas for its basic 407-card checklist is the immense number of "off-centered" subjects that were factory cut with skewed images as well as slight "tilts" to the central illustrations. Substantiating that notion is the prestigious PSA Population Report that currently includes a microscopic-like 0.09% "Gem Mint 10" examples of the nearly 296,000 encapsulated specimens. It is our distinct pleasure to now present one of those hallowed "10's", a "unique for the grade" 1957 Topps #30 Pee Wee Reese offering that just happens to stand as the SOLE perfect "10" on the PSA "Pop" Chart!

Incredibly, PSA has graded nearly 2,000 Reese 1957 Topps subjects with only this single cardboard marvel resulting in the pinnacle "10" assessment. The overall aesthetics of this masterpiece truly merit that near-impossible grade, with this exalted keepsake similar with Reese's consistent winning ways. Most historians would agree that the driving force of the annual pennant winning Brooklyn Dodgers was their beloved Hall of Fame shortstop and captain, "Pee Wee Reese". Indeed, a bold statement considering the Dodgers were loaded with future Hall of Famers such as Duke Snider, Roy Campanella and the immortal Jackie Robinson, but Reese was the heart and soul of that Dodger machine, earning the "Captain" nod via his unparalleled leadership qualities.

Reese received his ultra-popular nickname by being a superior young "marbles" player ("Pee Wee" was a type of marble), and he was truly the catalyst for a Brooklyn team that won seven pennants and their inaugural 1955 World Championship. Simply stated, he was the premier shortstop of his day (with all due respect to Rizzuto), and rightfully earning an eternal resting place in Cooperstown, New York. Synonymous with his solidified legacy comes along this world-class offering that stands alone as the "Best of the Best!" A pack-fresh image reveals the legendary shortstop in a classic fielding pose as he scoops up another ground ball in an effortless manner.

Crystal-clear clarity, brilliant hues, blinding bright borders, immaculate surfaces and four sharp right-angled corners are some of the major highlights of this pristine memento. Yet, the most remarkable feature has to be the virtually dead-on "5050" centering and lack of any tilt that typically plagues 1957 Topps subjects. Indeed, finding a "spot-on" centered 1957 Topps subject is a more painstaking task than locating a needle in a haystack. An absolutely "dream" card for any esteemed PSA Set Registry or Hall of Fame enthusiast, its "one of a kind" PSA Gem Mint 10 grade is a fitting testament for the player it represents, with Pee Wee Reese's unequivocal popularity sure to stand the test of time!
