1926-27 Album Page Signed by Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb & Walter Johnson - PSA/DNA Authentic
The fact that any determined fan would be tenacious enough to collect the autographs of arguably the three greatest players in the 20th century to date in Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb and Walter Johnson is a tall order to be sure. But the fact that they did so over a 3-month period, in the off-season no less, on the same album page is truly a remarkable feat. Ruth's autograph was acquired on November 5, 1926; Cobb on January 15, 1927; and Johnson on February 1, 1927. Though enshrinement would not occur for another decade, Cobb, Johnson and Ruth make up 3/5ths of the inaugural National Baseball Hall of Fame class in Cooperstown. This impressive 7-11/16" x 4-15/16" album page remains in good condition, with Ruth signed at the top third ("8-9" str.), Cobb holding the center portion ("7-8" str.) and Johnson at the bottom ("5-6" str. due to fading). Each black fountain pen signature is accompanied by his team's name and position at left, the date it was signed at right in an identical unknown hand. Also at right is an approx. 1" circular newspaper composite of the player's face. Deemed Authentic and encased by PSA/DNA, this unbelievable album page with three of the five original Hall of Fame inductees deserves a marquee spot in the finest of HOF autograph collections.
