1959 Bazooka Mickey Mantle Hand-Cut PSA 6 EX-MT
RARE MANTLE!!! Because of the incredible pricing increases of Mickey Mantle's 1952 Topps rookie edition, the Commerce Comet has taken his place among the Mt. Rushmore busts of the hobby alongside Babe Ruth, Honus Wagner and Joe Doyle (oddly enough). Each player's early or inaugural issue is considered one of the most sought-after or rarest in the industry. And collecting these desirable issues and cards in high-grade can be seemingly insurmountable or perhaps financially out of reach. The offered 1959 Bazooka Mickey Mantle Hand-Cut card graded 6 EX-MT is most assuredly rare, but far more affordably than the rookie era issues of these monumental ballplayers. With only 220 total examples graded by either PSA or SGC, this POP 1 Mantle has only a single PSA issue surpassing its high grade and only five others graded higher from SGC. Incredibly well trimmed from a Bazooka box displaying perforation marks and guidelines, this one shows phenomenal color, strong borders and flawless surfaces. Not a mark can be found on the reverse. With fewer than 250 EVER graded, it is no surprise that this Mickey Mantle Bazooka issue from 1959 does not appear for auction often, especially in such high-grade, making this one to garner heavy attention!
