c.1934 Babe Ruth Opening Day Warm-Up PSA Type 1 Associated Press Photo – Measures Approx. 8-1/2" x 5-3/4"

1934 OPENING DAY!!! On April 17, 1934, the New York Yankees would open their season at Shibe Park against Connie Mack's Athletics. Philadelphia would claim a tightly contested 6-5 win before 10,000 faithful fans, scoring two runs in the bottom of the ninth for a captivating walk-off victory. This magnificent PSA Type 1 photo reveals the immortal Babe Ruth taking batting practice before the game, donning his classic Yankees gray road flannels while completing his mighty swing. The imposing sepia tone image offers breathtaking clarity and contrast, and although there are some negligible scattered surface scuffs, no obtrusive blemishes are evident. Of course, this would be the Sultan of Swat's final opening day appearance with the Bronx Bombers, with team owner Jacob Ruppert trading Ruth to the Boston Braves after the 1934 campaign. Although in the twilight of his career, the Babe would still manage to post formidable batting numbers in his final full MLB campaign, including 22 dingers and 84 RBIs. The final exclamation point is the significant Associated Press credit stamp on the verso, with this extremely rare offering one of the finest Bambino batting illustrations extant!
