His remarkable career winding down, this circa 1928 PSA Type 1 photo reveals a stoic portrait image of the legendary Hall of Famer, whose 16 wins ably assisted the Cardinals in winning the NL pennant. He won an unprecedented three successive pitching Triple Crowns, leading the Senior Circuit in wins, ERA and strikeouts, including 30+ victories in all three campaigns. Alexander's 373 victories is tied with Mathewson for the most lifetime NL wins, and his 90 shutouts are likewise an NL record. The classic pose exhibits spectacular contrast and clarity, as Grover boasts a seldom-seen good-natured grin.
