1928 Yankee Catchers – Dickey/Collins/Grabowski PSA Type 1 Encapsulated Underwood & Underwood Photo - Measures Approx. 8" x 10"
YANKEE CATCHERS!!! The 1928 campaign would see the mighty Yankees once again claim a world championship, sweeping the St. Louis Cardinals in the Fall Classic for their second successive title. While Ruth and Gehrig were the main cogs, the stellar pitching staff was handled by four backstops, with three of them presented in this 1928 PSA Type 1 photo. From left to right, catchers Bill Dickey, Pat Collins and John Grabowski are pictured before the start of the 1928 World Series, with the only missing catcher being Benny Bengough. The notable flaws are subtle chips at each of the four corners, with a few faint wrinkles barely visible within the somewhat darkly contrasted image. The final exclamation points are the verso's critical caption and Underwood & Underwood credit stamp, with this super eclectic 8" x 10" offering a grand testament to that glorious Yankees 1928 championship!
