(LOT 351)
1914 Cracker Jack Roger Bresnahan No Number PSA 4 VG-EX - POP 3; Only 2 PSA Examples Graded Higher!

NO NUMBER BRESNAHAN!!! One of the most elusive 1914 Cracker Jack subjects is the Roger Bresnahan No Number on Back variation that inexplicably excluded Bresnahan's standard #17 checklist number. A sheer testament to the 1914 Cracker Jack's condition sensitivity, this PSA 4 offering joins only two other examples as the second highest specimen on PSA's Pop Chart, bested by a meager two copies! Furthermore, the total 21 PSA encapsulated examples (at the time this was written) represents the third lowest population for any PSA 1914 Cracker Jack, with only the revered Del Pratt and Ray Caldwell revealing lower counts. Cooperstown Inductee Roger Bresnahan is regarded as the first catcher to wear shin guards in an MLB game (1907) while being the inaugural modern-day catcher enshrined in Cooperstown, NY (1945). His extremely well-centered portrait pose virtually jumps off the card, affixed to a bold red-orange background. Minimal staining is evident on the front side, with more aggressive caramel corn stains affixed to the verso. Even corner wear is consistent with the grade, and some negligible wrinkles are apparent near several corners, with this seldom-surfacing mid-grade No Number scarcity destined for one of the premier Cracker Jack compilations!
