(LOT 350)
1914 Cracker Jack #17 Roger Bresnahan PSA 5 EX

SCARCE MID-GRADE 14 CJ!!! Locating mid-grade 1914 Cracker Jacks is tantamount to finding a needle in a haystack, substantiating why this super-eye-pleasing PSA 5 EX #17 Roger Bresnahan marvel is one of only four PSA encapsulated copies, bested by a paltry three examples! One of the most prestigious baseball cards ever produced were the Cracker Jack cards included in caramel candy boxes in 1914 and 1915. The 1915 versions are more often seen in high-grade condition due to a mail-in option to obtain the entire set, with a myriad of the 1914 cards typically revealing unsightly aesthetics. The first modern-day catcher to be inducted into baseball's illustrious HOF (1945), a portion of Bresnahan's outstanding 17-year career was spent catching for the immortal Christy Mathewson. The relatively well-centered image only reveals a modest partiality towards the right edge. The crystal-clear illustration is encompassed by a bold red setting, with no glaring creases or obtrusive stains on either side. Accounting for the assessment is even corner wear, the only notable flaw preventing a higher grade. Most significantly, the seldom-surfacing PSA 5 assessment is a bona fide testament to this card's rightful place in any world-class 1914 Cracker Jack set!
