1966 Topps #300 Roberto Clemente PSA 9 MINT - Highest Graded in the Hobby!
OVERCOMING INJURY!!! In 1965, while managing the San Juan Sendores in Puerto Rico, Roberto Clemente suffered a freak accident that would plague him for months. While mowing the lawn, a rock hurtled from under his mower, striking his thigh and partially severing a ligament. Though it hindered his play initially, and the Pirates started off slow in 1965, they went on a 12-game win streak to climb back into the pennant race as Roberto batted an astounding .458 during that span. In the end, and for the third time in his career, Roberto Clemente led the NL in hitting in 1965, batting .329 with 194 hits, ten home runs and 65 RBIs. (He led the NL once again in 1967 with a .357 BA.) Presented here is his 1966 Topps #300 Roberto Clemente graded 9 MINT by PSA. The clarity on this one is spectacular. Couple the clear surfaces with the delightful pink banners along with superior sharpness and centering, and this example is sure to upgrade even the finest of sets. No issue has ever been graded higher.
