(LOT 504)
1934 Goudey #6 Dizzy Dean PSA 8 NM-MT

DIZZY GEM!!! A legendary HOF pitcher, Dean will forever be considered one of the most popular players to ever grace a baseball diamond. He is the last NL 30-game winner, a feat accomplished in the 1934 season in which he and his brother Daffy won a combined 49 games, leading the Cardinals to a World Series title. By the age of 26, he had already won an incredible 134 games and was well on his way to being a 300-game winner until a line drive off the bat of Earl Averill in the 1937 All-Star game broke his toe. Consequently, Dizzy altered his pitching motion in favor of his injury, resulting in several arm injuries that curtailed his HOF career. One of Dizzy's most treasured artifacts is his 1934 Goudey #6 subject, presented here in a spectacular PSA 8 holder, with a meager four examples graded higher! Arguably Dizzy Dean's most coveted card, this ‘34 Goudey gem, includes a well centered Dean pitching pose set against a vibrant array of green hues. Square corners and pack-fresh surfaces are the final superlatives substantiating this 89-year-old masterpiece's world-class assessment, with numerous PSA 8 examples surpassing the five-figure mark over the past several years!
