DIZZY GEM!!! A legendary HOF pitcher, Dean will forever be considered one of the most popular players to ever grace a baseball diamond. He is the last NL 30-game winner, a feat accomplished in the 1934 season in which he and his brother Daffy won a combined 49 games, leading the Cardinals to a World Series title. By the age of 26, he had already won an incredible 134 games and was well on his way to being a 300-game winner until a line drive off the bat of Earl Averill in the 1937 All-Star game broke his toe. Consequently, Dizzy altered his pitching motion in favor of his injury, resulting in several arm injuries that curtailed his HOF career.
