(LOT 243)
1923 World Series – Babe Ruth Sliding into 3rd Base PSA Type 1 Encapsulated International Newsreel Photo – Measures Approx. 8" x 10"

SULTAN OF SWAT!!! Game One of the 1923 Fall Classic would pit the NY Giants against their cross-town Yankee rivals on October 10th, with McGraw's Giants besting the Yanks by a 5-4 score via Casey Stengel's ninth inning inside-the-park homer, the first in World Series history. This majestic PSA Type 1 image showcases the immortal Babe Ruth sliding safely into third base in the fifth inning of Game One, just beating Heinie Groh's tag while kicking up a sea of dust. The well-centered 8" x 10" image reveals fine contrast and clarity, with some negligible stray wrinkles and paper rippling barely visible to the naked eye. The verso includes a significant caption detailing the event as well as the renowned International Newsreel credit stamp. The Yankees and Ruth would ultimately win the Series in six games, with the immortal Babe blasting a home run in the Game Six clincher!
