1941 Lou Gehrig Memorial Full Ticket Void Stamp PSA 6 EX-MT - POP 1; Only One Graded Higher!

HISTORIC IRON HORSE!!! This extremely rare PSA 6 EX-MT 1941 Lou Gehrig Memorial Full Ticket just happens to be the sole example at this lofty plateau, and only a single specimen has been graded higher! Unused, only seven total copies are listed on the PSA Pop Chart, with the Void Stamp due to this grandstands ticket never being sold. Two years after Gehrig's iconic July 4, 1939 Yankee Stadium "Luckiest Man on the Face of the Earth" farewell address that unequivocally stands as our National Pastime's Gettysburg Address, and only a month after his tragic passing on June 2, 1941, the Yankees scheduled a July 4, 1941 tribute to dedicate a center field monument to their courageous captain.

The Bronx Bombers were scheduled to play the Athletics in a twin-bill on Independence Day, with this dedication planned to take place between games. Unfortunately, both games were rained out, and the ceremony was rescheduled for Sunday, July 6th. Before 60,948 captivated fans, New York would sweep the Athletics in the double-header, with the Yankee Clipper extending his legendary hitting streak to 48 consecutive games (four hits in game one; two safeties in game two). This scarce Memorial Full Ticket boasts outstanding aesthetics, with the classic half-bust Gehrig pose, super clean surfaces, fine corners, and two "VOID" stamps on the verso all critical features consistent with the lofty assessment. It effectively personifies all of the emotions experienced by a grief-stricken nation at the mere thought of this nationwide hero succumbing to ALS that would sadly claim the Iron Horse's life a month before his revered memorial!
