(LOT 229)
Babe Ruth Signed Government Postcard (7/24/39) PSA 9 MINT Auto

RUTH SIGNED GPC!!!... world-class collection could possibly be considered complete without an outstanding Babe Ruth autograph, and this PSA 9 MINT Babe Ruth scripted Government Postcard (GPC) truly resides as one of the finest signed Ruth GPCs extant! Postmarked July 24, 1939, Babe Ruth's imposing salutation has been penned in bold fountain ink, reading as follows: "Sincerely, Babe Ruth". Addressed to Frederick R. Brown Jr., modest toning is evident on the obverse side, and the verso does reveal some negligible scrapbook removal as well as the critical "JUL 24 7 P.M. 1939" postal stamping. While it was common for the Babe to sign the many GPCs mailed to him for his respected autograph. A majority of them have lost their way over the past 80+ years, with this treasured heirloom miraculously surviving the past 84 years to present itself in remarkable condition. It's no secret amongst esteemed autograph collectors that most of Ruth's signatures are found on either baseballs or generic paper cuts, with the number of Bambino signed GPCs few and far between. A bona fide keeper, it conjures up memories of how the Sultan of Swat proudly retains his title as baseball's undisputed all-time player!
