(LOT 13)
1909-11 T206 Ty Cobb Portrait Red Background Piedmont 350 Subjects/25 SGC 5 EX

COBB TOBACCO!!! One of the nicest midgrade T206 Cobbs you will ever encounter, this imposing SGC 5 Red Portrait beauty depicts a Piedmont 350 Subjects/Factory 25 ad back. Stealing the show is the breathtaking and well-centered Carl Horner portrait pose of the iconic Georgia Peach, highlighted by a robust red background that has miraculously eluded any obtrusive flaws. One look at this mesmerizing image turns back the clock some 114 years to an era when Tyrus was embarking on one of the greatest careers in MLB history.

Assumingly released in 1910 (via the 350 Subjects verso), that year Cobb would post his fourth consecutive league-leading batting average, with his .382 mark, 106 runs scored and stellar 1.004 OPS all pacing the Junior Circuit. Of course, the immortal Cobb would extend his consecutive batting title streak to an unprecedented nine years, ultimately claiming an unfathomable 12 titles in a 13-year span. Had it not been for some modest corner wear, this outstanding keepsake would have graded higher. Yet, the magnificent central image, lack of any glaring surface blemishes and well-deserved SGC 5 assessment all combine to substantiate its final resting place in any world-class tobacco gathering!
